Official says Angola mulling building plant to make Kamaz trucks
ST. PETERSBURG, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Angola would like to launch production of Russia's Kamaz trucks, Economy and Planning Minister Mario Augusto Caetano Joao told PRIME on Friday.
"The Kamaz trucks are quite well-known in Angola, have a good record and are popular not only in the armed forces, but also used for civil purposes,” Joao said.
“They were of a special importance in the 1980, the 1990s and the aughts. We are considering importing the trucks in the short term, but would like to create a business that would allow us to assemble and build the trucks in our country in the long run."
Angola is also considering building a fertilizer plant under Russian technology, he said after negotiations with Russian producer PhosAgro.
The minister also said that Angola welcomes Russian companies to participate in tenders for licenses for oil deposits.
